Description

This book offers an empirical view on the topic of globalization adding a historical context to the current state of affairs as well as discussing political and economic factors that attribute to the status quo.

In hindsight, the term globalization was introduced in the 1940s. In addition, the term globalization became widely accepted and even superseded earlier attempts to describe the phenomenon "mondialization" by the French which was not seen as benign. In addition, the word globalization is multifaceted and the scope of overviewing the process of globalization can include political, economic, social and technological factors. To be clearer, globalization involves a wide array of key networks and monetized international channels that are strategically implemented based on cooperation between states. In one instance, globalization is a complex recurrent phenomenon involving the history of human society and strategies towards economic development across regional and geopolitical areas.  In efforts to secure economic primacy in the global arena, the United States must compel other nations to respect our borders and stop letting other countries and agents set the rules of commerce. These acts violate our government's sovereignty.

Furthermore, this book examines the structure and due diligence of the United Nations in the entity's efforts to promote global peace and security.

The global governance model implemented by the United Nations requires cooperation among states yet like any institution there is a hierarchy of powers, wherein there a five main countries with the power to veto a prospective law attempting to be implemented universally. The five permanent members of the UNSC are still the most powerful nations in the world today. They help to maintain normative standards in building a more cohesive international community and ensuring sustainable development with great regard to global human life. Though as we will learn from further reading this book is that the United Nations has had its share of successes and failures.
